People throughout the land with Elemental powers received a supernatural call or summon. Each one was called in a different way. Each one was told, or felt the urge to travel to the Kingdom of Alastair, to the Great City of Cross, which is at the ocean’s edge and very far from their homes. None of the Elementals knew that others were called, but each one slowly found out that others are traveling in response to similar calls or impulse to travel. They still don’t know why. Sienna(wind Element): Princess from West Kingdom, Acela(light Element): a poor girl from the Woodland Kingdom, Terran(Earth Element), and Arcturus(water Element):Farmer from North Lariat Kingdom found each other and traveled together the last few miles to Cross. They came to the outskirts of the city trying to decide what to do.
Kathryn or “Kate” (Air Elemental and magician‘s apprentice), was the first one to make it to Cross, and she wandered the city streets and alleys for about a day. Then Destiny, a fire Elemental and a mind reader, also made it to the city. She spent some time playing at the beach. Probably because she is from the Fire Kingdom and had never seen so much water before. She later decided to move into the city and just happened to bump into Kate. They befriended each other, but they still didn’t know that the other was also called to Cross. Arcturus and Acela went into the city proper looking for food and clues to their call. They left Sienna and Terran asleep in a cabin of earth made by Terran last night. As they began to travel the first streets, they met the feisty Queen of the Southern Desert, Leila(who has a Plasma power). Leila was, naturally, suspicious of two strangers on horseback and she almost got in lightning fight with Acela. After being reassured that Arcturus and Acela are friends, all three are discussed what to do next…though Leila’s relationship with them was rather uneasy. Eventually, Arcturus, Terran, Sienna, Leila, and Acela made it to the city. Saphire(a water Elemental) found the city as well. The characters met at the Cross…everyone became friends. Destiny and Arcturus found themselves becoming romantically attracted to one another…but Destiny and Leila hated each other from the start, leading to several future conflicts. As the group travels to the castle nearby, they are attacked by mysterious shadow-like creatures. They manage to scare them off, but are left wondering why they were attacked. Not too much later they also meet Flame, another fire Elemental. When they get in the castle they meet the kind and wonderful King Mizar. At the dinner table Mizar tells them that they were called by Ellonai, the God of the world, to train their powers for good and to eventually defeat a growing Evil on the Island of Faerence. Their training is to take place in a cottage nearby the Kingdom’s ocean. Meanwhile Sienna falls in love with Rigel, Mizar’s son(despite the fact that her parents want her to marry someone else). Eventually the cottage is built and they receive instructions for their training from a young man named Aasen. Oddly enough, Leila and Aasen begin to have feelings for each other…despite their vast differences in manner in personality. Rigel also travels to the cottage with Sienna and meets the Elementals. At night, the cottage is attacked by a demonic and frightening being called Decay. Decay has dark elemental powers that allow him to kill everything he touches. The team manages to fight him off. During the fight Rigel discovers he has the Elemental power to create ice. The Elementals resume training, except for Rigel, Sienna, and Terran who decide to go to the castle to see Mizar. But Mizar is killed by an evil scaled woman called Serpaethia, who can inject a poisonous venom into anyone she bites. Serpaethia meets Decay and they both learn that they are working for the same person, the evil being that the Elements are going to fight at Faerence. Rigel comes to the castle to discover his father’s dead body. He realizes he has to take his father’s place as King, and he asks Sienna to marry him. The other Elementals also travel to the castle, once their cottage is burned down by Decay and Serpaethia. They attend Mizar’s funeral, Rigel and Sienna’s wedding, and Rigel’s conronation. To Rigel’s horror, the shadow creatures that had attacked the team earlier begin tormenting him. As the Kingdom grives the dead King, Decay and Serpaethia reveal their feelings for one another. Soon the evil duo gather an army to attack the city of Risjh Glajin
A thirteen year old girl called Cinthia, who lives in the city of Rish Glajin, tries to escape when the evil army attacks. During the escape attempt, Decay and Serpaethia corner her and her mother. Serpaethia kills her mother. Scared, Cinthia’s horse tramples over Serpaethia-killing her. After swearing revenge on Cinthia, Decay and his followers force everyone in the city to join them…those that refused were killed(including Cinthia’s father). Meanwhile, the cottage is rebuilt. The Elementals then resume their training. As they get better control of their powers, the bond between Acela and Flame grows. An exhausted and tired Cinthia faints near the cottage, but she is taken in by the Elementals. After learning she is in danger from Decay, they allow her to stay. The team resumes their training. During this time Terran’s loyalty to the team is questioned, an angelic servant of Ellonai helps Rigel with his issues with the shadows, and young woman called Alzira rescues Rigel from an attack and is accepted into the cottage. More about Leila’past is revealed. Her bad character is due to a sad child hood, a death of a child she bore during a rape, the suicide of her brother, the death of her mother, and the poor relationship with her dad. Aasen comforts her, and Destiny becomes more understanding. After more training, the team begins to prepare to leave for Faerence. Rigel has a fleet of ships come to his aide, and he commands Admiral Klorin to get everyone on the proper ships and the supplies to be ready. Arcturus, Destiny, Rigel, Sienna, the Admiral, and Cinthia go on the ship the Orion. Aasen, Leila, Sapphire, Acela, Flame, and Terran go on the ship the Constellation. On the Orion, Cinthia meets a fourteen year old boy called Austin whom she befriends. Their friendship becomes hard to maintain when Austin’s father, Admiral Klorin, forbids him from seeing Cinthia because he has been slacking on his work. On the Constellation Flame gives Acela an engagement ring and they both plan to be married.
Trouble arises when Decay joins with Sadeith, a wicked sorcerer who is the Enemy’sright hand man. Sadeith sets out to see with a fleet of ships filled with wicked men and the undead. On the Orion it is suspected that there is a traitor among the Elementals who is sabotaging the ships’ weapons and supplies and giving information to the enemy. Decay frequently sneaks on the Constellation and gets information from the traitor, who’s identity is unknown as he is cloaked and wearing a hood that covers his face.
Cinthia tries to convince Austin’s father to let them be together, promising she wouldn’t cause any trouble. The Admiral reluctantly agrees. While Rigel gives his wife Sienna a surprise birthday party, Austin gives Cinthia an engagement ring. Cinthia tells him that they are too young too be thinking like that. Angry and upset, Austin leaves the ship and goes on to the Constellation. Before long, the cloaked tratior was revealed to be the Admiral himself. Rigel had caught on to the Admiral’s plan, and disguised himself as the traitor so he could meet with Decay. He tells Decay to attack(fearing that if the fight waits too long, the spies will destroy the ships’ weapons). Decay goes to his ship and tells Sadeith its time to attack. Sapphire sees Rigel in the cloak and think’s he’s the traitor. So she panics and tries to get help, which really ends up leading to confusion. Rigel tells Aasen to prepare for battle. The Admiral is caught, but he refused to repent…he ends up being locked in the brig as a result.
